How the Covid Tracker app helps us

Daily health check-in
The Covid Tracker app allows you to check-in every day, to let us know if you have any cold, flu or coronavirus symptoms, or if you’re feeling well.

This will help us map the spread of the virus in Ireland. Understanding how the virus is affecting the country will help us to manage and respond to this pandemic.

Contact tracing
The app uses your phone’s technology to make a record of when you are close to other app users. If an app user tests positive for COVID-19, the HSE can ask them for the records on the app. This will help us to contact other people who might have been affected, and give them the advice and help they need.

Your data and privacy
The COVID Tracker app will not:

publicly identify anyone with COVID-19
make personal data available to the HSE without your direct consent
use your data for any reason other than contact tracing and anonymously reporting illness levels

5 stars: Good app, but needs to add a feature notifying people to check in symptoms daily. Only 10-15% of users are dping this daily as most are forgetting due to a lack of prompting from the app itself.
4 stars: 4/5 because it really needs some kind of optional nag reminder to get people to check in daily as this glimpse of the public health in real time could be vital. Maybe nag after 2 days of no check-ins? Otherwise, stable and reassuring. Kudos to all involved.
5 stars: Gives whats needed, asks only for the necessities. Great even for checking daily numbers, info is clear and up front. Nothing is mandatory. Tracing is in line with preserving privacy, and gives a portal for communicating with the HSE. Can only guess how well it functions if you catch it, but if the rest of the app is anything to go by, it'll be well up to the job. Great example to other state-funded apps.
4 stars: Good app, easy to use. Useful information of daily reports. Would like breakdown of what counties had a daily increase in cases
5 stars: Good app and badly needed for Ireland. Worst part is regular prompts that Bluetooth is turned off.......not everyone is in constant close contact with others or has any need for Bluetooth to be turned on.
3 stars: I've downloaded the app but what now? Do I just wait for the dreaded notification that I've been close to a carrier? How can I be confident that it's working at all? It's a great app but only if I know it's actively workin
