CBC News APK 4.5.13

4 stars: Most of my experience on CBC app has been positive. Sometimes I think there are too many Corona virus stories but I know lots is happening with it. I'm not at present reviewing the news content as such. I'm looking at the variety of news stories as well as the ease with which the app is accessed. It loads quickly I will critique the angles on the stories at another time.
3 stars: Needs a language setting for live, either French or English captions that we can play and mute the video, I just tried to watch an update where the English voiceover and the French were happening at the same time, so it's confusing. Even auto-generated captions would be better! Edit: I did try the closed captioning option and it didn't work. Maybe this differs by phone?
4 stars: A simple layout make this app user friendly. I got it so I could read stories and articles offline, and you can do that with this, although images, audio or video don't get saved either. I choose to only make breaking news the only alerts that became notifications, and under that setting, it didn't eat up much data. A great app that is a simple but functional way to get news from CBC News.
3 stars: It runs fairly well, and I enjoy the CBC's news reporting, but the notifications are a mess. I do not want notifications for editorials, full stop (not an option to disable).
