5 stars: I found this game through Card Thief. This one is more complicated but just wonderfully made; great graphics, subtle animation and sound effects and totally engrossing. There is no pressure to spend money or watch pesky ads. The makers of this game seem to have the very best of intentions and that is a rare thing for the play store. I cannot fault this game.
4 stars: Arnold Rauers is a very talented and creative guy. I love his games too death, but my favorite is Card Thief. This game's mechanics are similar is many ways to the aforementioned, but much more confusing in their presentation. I don't mind complexity and maybe I am missing something, but I am unable to feel the same level of tactical control I do with his other games.
3 stars: I really wanted and tried to like this game, the artwork is beautiful and the game seems simple enough but with some depth but after playing for some time I am still confused by what effects my card choices are having. I think the problem is the level progression. The first 5 taverns should not have any of the effects like fire etc bring the elements into the game at a much slower pace so you get a chance to understand the basics first.
