The Gemini app is an experimental AI assistant. If you opt in to the Gemini app, it will replace your Google Assistant as the primary assistant on the phone. Some Google Assistant voice features aren't available through the Gemini app yet — including controlling media, reminders and routines. You can switch back to Google Assistant in settings.

The Gemini app is available only in English in the US on Android phones with 4 GB of RAM or more, running Android 12 and up.

This official app is free. Gemini gives you direct access to Google’s best family of AI models on your phone so you can:

- Get help with writing, brainstorming, learning, and more
- Summarize and find quick info from Gmail or Google Drive
- Generate images on the fly
- Use text, voice, photos and your camera to get help in new ways
- Say “Hey Google” to ask Gemini for help with what’s on your phone screen
- Make plans with Google Maps and Google Flights

    4 stars: Great when it works, frustrating when it doesn't. At first it kept saying
    4 stars: --You cannot change the voice of the assistant. I'd pay for voice packs if they were available. --I guess maybe in time it will happen but it lacks the depth of integration I wanted it to have. Texting and calling feels great. -- I liked how well it understands me through my accent and When I say foreign names
    3 stars: Off to a great start but it needs to be more capable than assistant to replace assistant. I look forward to switching to this completely but it's missing commonly used features such as creating a calendar event, adding items to my shopping list, or playing the news (podcasts) are a must have for me. I would only continue to pay for pro after my trial ends if it has all the features Assistant has.
    2 stars: I was excited about this, but now I'm disappointed that they pushed this out before it was even close to ready. It is still unable to use so many of the features I use with Google Assistant. You can still switch back to the Assistant fairly easy, but this should not be marketed as the replacement if it can't even do what it needs to. (Like adding items to my shopping list) I look forward to when this gets a much needed update!
    2 stars: Doesn't have the ability to play songs from Spotify. Somewhat neat but, despite having a lot of features, doesn't appear to have anything that Google Assistant can't already do. That's great it can compose an email but it
