Cameroon Radio Television is the Cameroonian public radio and television organization. Broadcasting began in Cameroon in 1940, after the opening by the French Government of the first radio station in Douala, Radio Douala, also known as the Child of the War and having for first transmitter a technico-graphic of 150 watts. This Radio was a means of propaganda of Free France. SORAFOM will be responsible for installing 02 radio transmitters of 1 kilowatt of medium waves and 4 kilowatt of short waves in Yaoundé and in other regions of the country. In July 1955, Radio Cameroon was officially born. Other public radio stations will be created a few years later: Radio Yaoundé, Radio Garoua. Between 1959 and 1961, a mobile radio transmitter will operate in Buea financed by the Nigerian Government.
